The club was formed in 1964 and sails on the Basin from our club house and compound on Esk Road. We generally have about 30 memberships (including family ones) and sail about every other weekend (depends on the tide) from the end of April to mid-October. We hold a number of race series, introductory sessions, an informal tuition program for new/novice sailors, and social events. Racing is not key, many of the membership enjoy a sail on the basin for the pleasure of being on the water and for the experience of being close to the seals and other wildlife that the Basin holds.
The club has several boats that are available to use at a small charge. These boats are of various sizes, from an Oppy (childs solo craft) upto a 2 man GP14
The complete fleet is :
1 x Oppy
2 x Laser Radials
1 x Graduate, which was donated by the family of a past long term member
1 x GP14
To gain access to these boats you are required to be a member of the club (for insurance purposes). New members of any ability are always welcome: please come along to the club house on a sailing day, contact secretary@montrosesailingclub.co.uk, or one of the committee members via the website.
We have our annual Open Day this coming Sunday (7th June), this takes place from ~1 to ~ 4pm and members of the public are invited to come along to the club house on Esk Road and give sailing a try. Or come along on one of the saling days and speak to any of the members.
From the South Coming into Montrose from the south you will come to a large round about, Follow the sign to Montrose. Just as you come off of the round about there is a garage. Directions from this garage are underneath.
